JOHNSON'S RANCH MARINA, located on Caddo Lake in Uncertain, Texas, is
the oldest inland marina still operating in the State of Texas.
As Caddo is the only naturally formed lake in Texas, ( and
was the only lake until the construction of man-made reservoirs.
) JOHNSON'S RANCH has been serving the sportsmen of
Texas since 1908.
JOHNSON'S RANCH is a full service marina, supplying
the sportsmen of today with boat fuel, live bait, artificial
lures, snacks, soft drinks, beer and Uncertain souvenirs.
Boat and canoe rentals are available. A parking lot and concrete
boat launch is easily accessible for those who want to fish
Caddo, an outdoorsman's paradise. Fish, duck and squirrel
cleaning is also available.
The large covered over-the-water pavilion adjacent to the
JOHNSON'S RANCH office provides guests a relaxing spot
to gather and socialize or fish. The pier offers a panoramic
view of Caddo's main waterway, Big Cypress Bayou, and the
quaint stilt house across the bayou, called "Dick and
Charlie's Tea Room". Visitors enjoy the nostalgic sight
and sound of Caddo's authentic steamboat, The "Graceful
Ghost", as it glides slowly by.
During inclement weather (or televised ball games) a lounge
inside the office building offers guests at JOHNSON'S RANCH
the warmth of a wood-burning stove in a comfortable setting
of leather sofas, tables and chairs (dominoes?) and displays
of memorabilia from days gone by. And there is free Wireless
Internet! (Yes, JOHNSON'S has gone high tech!)
The JOHNSON'S RANCH parking lot is THE place
to view Uncertain's annual parades and fireworks displays.
Parades follow the shore line of Big Cypress on July 4th and
the 3rd Sunday of December when cleverly decorated boats pass
by. DJs, live bands, entertainers and vendors provide a festival
mood along the bayou. (There is no admission for parade entries
or viewing.)
Magnificent firework displays fill the night skies on New
Year's Eve and July 4th. JOHNSON'S RANCH offers the
best viewing area for these explosive extravaganzas that are
set off from boats anchored in the center of the bayou. Fireworks
begin at "dark-thirty". There is no admission to
any of these events.
Year round lodging is available at JOHNSON'S RANCH.
Two cabins, POSSUM TROT and KNOTTY PINE offer clean,
comfortable air conditioned accommodations, with great screened
porches. A third unit, Rollin' on the River, is a spacious
mobile home. Cabins and screened shelters are located on the
4.5 acres of the marina and give access to 500 feet of waterfront,
and all the excitement that goes on at JOHNSON'S, the
center of Caddo Lake activity. JOHNSON'S RANCH strives
to provide a wholesome, safe, family environment.
The public restrooms at JOHNSON'S have been updated
and improved. Nestled in a backdrop of cane brake, a new board
walk and freshly painted facade replicate a walk through a
jungle of giant bamboo.
Camping shelters and an outside shower will be ready for
use by spring.
JOHNSON'S giant Campbell's Tomato Soup Can? Well, you just
have to come and see for yourself!!! You will be welcomed
by proprietor, Billy Carter, his wife, Dottie, manager Karen
Holzman and associate, Leroy Jones.
